This old bottling of Chivas Brothers 30 Years old is completely different from its modern counterparts. An absolutely fantastic blend, certainly one of the best blends produced by Chivas brothers. Chivas Brothers 30 Year Old Imperial Release is an exceptional example of the master blender’s art — an ultra-aged blend crafted to showcase the depth, smoothness and refinement for which Chivas is renowned. Centred on Strathisla’s distinguished Speyside malt and other rare, well-matured components, this release offers rich layers of complexity and mellow elegance. Housed in an impressive presentation box and individually numbered, it is a highly collectible expression of Chivas Brothers’ heritage at its most regal. Chivas is truly a household name when it comes to whisky.

Tasting notes;
Appearance/colour; Rich, deep amber.
Nose; Very strong, aromatic nose, beautiful dense sherry aromas, orange, bitter orange, bushes with raspberries, blueberries, fine leather, a little rosemary, thyme, red apple glazed, manuka honey, hint of anise very pleasant in the background, a great interplay and remains undiminished vigorously in the nose without the smallest alcohol.
Palate; Leather, beautiful bitter orange notes, fine sherry without being bitter or antique, but quite oldschool, this lightest Heiderauch which one often finds at vintage bottling is also here, red grapes, thyme, rosemary, again the hint of anise, apple peel, On the second sip I also find pear, dried hay and some tobacco, dark chocolate, dark honey.
Finish: Very warm, now some oak wrapped in leather, some tobacco tin, dried autumn leaves, dark chocolate, some hops. But, Bitteroange, medium-long.

Chivas Brothers traces its roots to Aberdeen, Scotland. In 1801, a grocery and luxury goods business was established at 21 King Street, Aberdeen. It offered fine foods, tea, coffee, spices, wine, and spirits to wealthy clients. James Chivas joined the business in the 1830s, later partnering with his brother John. The brothers gained a reputation for providing only the best provisions to an affluent clientele, including the Royal Family at Balmoral Castle, for whom they became official purveyors. This early connection with the royal household added prestige that would define the brand’s image for centuries.

The Birth of Blending

In the mid-1800s, single malt whiskies could be inconsistent and often harsh by modern standards. Customers wanted a smoother, more refined product. To meet this demand, the Chivas brothers began experimenting with blending different malt whiskies with grain whiskies and older stocks. The aim was to create a consistent, mellow, and balanced Scotch whisky. This practice positioned Chivas Brothers among the pioneers of premium blended Scotch.

The Royal Warrant
