This seasonal release is a collaboration with acclaimed Japanese-French illustrator Erica Dorn, whose artwork has featured in director Wes Anderson’s films.
The single malt is presented in unique packaging to provide a special unboxing experience and Dorn’s playful abstract illustrations are inspired by the historic fire rituals dominant in New Year celebrations around the world. A Night on Earth in Scotland is created from a selection of The Macallan’s exceptional American and European oak sherry seasoned casks, along with American ex-bourbon barrels to deliver its rich, sweet shortbread-like character. A whisky referencing the rich Scottish delicacy traditionally gifted and eaten at Hogmanay, punctuated by festive notes of dried orange and spice.

Distillery History:
The Macallan’s Six Pillars are intended to represent the foundation of the brand and its approach to making whisky. The pillars are Natural Colour, Mastery, Curiously Small Spirit Stills, The Estate, Exceptional Oak Casks and Sherry Seasoning.
The Macallan Distillery’s story began in 1824 when it was officially granted a licence to distil whisky on the Easter Elchies estate in Craigellachie, Speyside. From its earliest days, The Macallan set itself apart with an emphasis on quality, choosing the best barley, copper pot stills, and most importantly, exceptional oak casks.
The Macallan is particularly famous for its commitment to sherry-seasoned oak casks sourced from Jerez, Spain. This focus on cask selection shapes the whisky’s signature rich, fruity, and smooth profile. Over nearly two centuries, The Macallan has grown from a small, traditional distillery to a global icon of single malt whisky.
Throughout the 20th century, The Macallan built its reputation by blending tradition with innovation — introducing new cask types, pioneering craftsmanship standards, and embracing premiumisation. The distillery expanded with state-of-the-art facilities while carefully preserving its heritage.
The triple cask maturation style, introduced to balance the sweet, fruity notes of European sherry casks with the lighter character of American oak, epitomizes Macallan’s mastery of maturation science. This approach blends whisky matured in European sherry-seasoned oak casks, American sherry-seasoned oak casks, and American ex-bourbon oak casks, offering a rich yet delicate whisky.
Today, The Macallan remains a symbol of luxury and craftsmanship, producing some of the world’s most collectible and celebrated whiskies. Its limited editions, such as this Russian Edition miniature, celebrate both the distillery’s heritage and its ongoing pursuit of excellence.
